You can start with Neagley
The case, the villains and most of the supporting cast are all new. It's an original mystery, not an adaptation of a Lee Child novel, and Neagley is at the centre of it. You won't be lost if you've never seen Reacher.
What you'd miss by skipping it
Frances Neagley appears across the first three seasons of Reacher. In Reacher she's a former Army Master Sergeant from the Military Police's 110th Special Investigations Unit, and she became a private investigator in Chicago after the unit broke up. Reacher took her under his wing, and their friendship is the reason he turns up in her show. Alan Ritchson returns as Reacher for a guest appearance.
If you want a quick catch-up
- Season 2 is the one to watch. Maria Sten is a main cast member there, and the story is about Reacher and his old unit reuniting. It's the best picture of who she is.
- Seasons 1 and 3 have her in them too.
What about Reacher season 4?
Neagley launched on September 16, 2026, the same day as the Reacher season 4 finale. It's a self-contained case, so you can watch it without finishing season 4.
The one thing to know going in
Neagley has an aversion to being touched. It's established in Reacher and comes up again in her own show.
