See Season 2 Finale: Where Things Ended Up

Season 2 of See aired on October 15, 2021. Read about how things ended at the end of the season and what our thoughts are for each character’s fate.

See Season 2

The finale for See’s Season 2 aired on Apple TV on October 15, 2021. If you haven’t watched the episode, be warned: There are spoilers ahead!

Why Won’t Queen Kane die?

I think it goes without saying that if you’re one of the most hated characters in a TV series, you’re probably going to be alright — likely until at least Season 3 or 4.

This is really very Game of Thrones style of writing. Honestly, without an antagonistic character like Queen Kane (the crazy one), the citizens of Paya would probably live in peaceful coexistence with the Trivantians.

The writers would have to create, from scratch, an equally hated character. And let’s face it: that isn’t easy.

Why Did Baba Voss Leave?

I was surprised Baba Voss wanted to leave. He finally rejoined his family and couldn’t stay because… he can’t get used to life living as a royal? Sure, he’s a “Mountain Man” and just killed his Dune co-star, but c’mon — try giving it all a try at least for a week or two before deciding.

Momoa’s character spent literally the whole season trying to get his whole family back together only to drop everything on some quest. It’s as if he’s trying really hard to get the show renewed.

And guess what happens when he leaves?

Paris Gets Killed By The Crazy Queen

Paris is like the Yoda of See.

And you really don’t want to kill Yoda.

The writers have better had a good reason for her exit. Honestly, if their only reason is so that Queen Kane can find another mid-wife, that would suck.

Tamacti Jun retires as a solder?

Just as Queen Maghra promotes Tamacti Jun, the very next scene he says to her he’s done?

It’s almost as if the cast themselves have decided that they’re done with See altogether.

Tamacti Jun’s character arc was probably one of the most redeeming, going from a scary villain general to that of a honourable soldier. Sure, he isn’t without his sinful past, but we can look beyond that given he’s made some very good (and moral) decisions since Season 1.

I have a feeling he’ll back back for Season 3, only to die in the first couple of episodes. If you’re a writer for the show and you’re reading this, please surprise me.

Kofun is unspiring, yet again

If anyone should be killed off, I think Kofun should be the one. He’s easily one of the most annoying character due to his lack of good decision making skills.

But on top of that, I think it would seriously be a good twist. Having both siblings make it all the way through is so cliché.

Haniwa and Wren’s relationship

Does anyone else feel that their relationship seem a bit forced?

Wren keeps saying how she’s a loyal Trivantian but then she goes and literally betrays them at every turn because she’s fallen in love with Haniwa — who she literally just met a few episodes prior.

Talk about Stockholm Syndrome here.

Bow Lion is underutilized

Bow Lion is a pretty bad-ass character. I really loved her performance in Season 1 and was hoping to see more development with her character in Season 2.

Unfortunately, she only made sporadic appearances, in primarily supporting roles.

I don’t have more to say about this, but I do hope the writers bring her back to the forefront next season.

Charlotte…

I really liked how Charlotte is sort of a light-hearted-yet-tough-cookie type of character. Olivia Cheng’s portrayal of her certainly added the needed humour for such a depressing world See has created.

Please let her live for at least 1 or 2 more seasons.

Why did they kill Lord Harlan?

Honestly, this guy is a bit of a jerk, but he was less so as the season progressed. And his intentions, although selfish at first, ended up being good. Doesn’t he remind you of Tyrion Lannister à la Game of Thrones?

He’s had nothing but bad luck since the Kane sisters arrived. RIP Lord Harlan, you’re yet another lovable character that’s left us too early.

Edo Voss’ contract probably necessitated his dying

Baba Voss’ equal was in Edo Voss, but Dave Bautista was probably too expensive to keep around. And Bautista is (probably) an actor in high demand anyway.

Queen Maghra has a strong performance

I’ll admit: In the first season, Hera Hilmar’s Queen Maghra was a bit boring. She seemed more like a liability than anything. But as Season 2 progressed, her character’s nobility and righteousness shone through like a beacon. Unfortunately her wicked sister’s scheming made her life more difficult, I’m glad the season ended with her keeping her Crown (for now).
